Synopsis:

Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, and the poet show us their perspectives of liva as a woman. At the same time, they are fusing into the same entity, with the aim of transmitting the same empowering message, making use of several mystic mythological touches.

Opinion:

I've wanting to read about Greek mythology for while, and Trista Mateer appeared in the opportune moment. One of the poems' fragments in the synopsis catched my attention, and raised my interest.

When I started to read the thing that surprised me the most, was that there were photografies and illustration in a very constant way. They were thought to perfectly combine the anthology's thematic, and I believe that they bring great amounts of memorability and aesthetic.

In spite of this, I have to say that I started it with a bit high expectations. If I'm being honest, the four stars I gave it, they are three point five in reality. I was hoping a more a little more of depth and to left me thinking about it during days. This doesn't mean I haven't enjoyed it, not at all, it just wasn't all what I believed.

Trista Mateer used a concept I love when it is done properly. She took a notorious character for his infidelities and love affairs, and turned her around. In this piece, we see that Aphrodite's past was manipulated and told for the benefits of others. The way some parts were written made me empathize with her indignation and craving for fairness.

Sinopsis:

Afrodita, la diosa de la belleza, y la poeta nos muestran sus perspectivas de la vida como una mujer. Al mismo tiempo, se van fundiendo en una misma entidad, con el fin de transmitir un mismo mensaje de empoderamiento, haciendo uso de místicos toques de la mitología.

Opinión:

Hacía tiempo que buscaba leer sobre mitología griega, y Trista Mateer apareció en el momento oportuno. Uno de los fragmentos de los poemas en la sinopsis captó mi atención al instante.

Cuando comencé a leer, lo que más me sorprendió era que había fotografías e ilustraciones de forma muy constante. Estas están pensadas para combinar a la perfección con la temática del poemario y creo que le aportan grandes cantidades de memorabilidad y estética.

A pesar de esto, sí he de admitir que lo empecé con las expectativas un poco altas. Siendo honesta, las cuatro estrellas de puntuación que le dí, son tres y media. Esperaba un poco más de profundidad y que me hiciese pensar durante varios días. Esto no significa que no lo haya disfrutado, en absoluto, es solo que no ha sido todo lo que yo creía.

Trista Mateer utilizó un concepto que me encanta cuando se realiza correctamente. Tomó a un personaje célebre por sus infidelidades y amoríos, y le dio la vuelta completamente. En esta obra vemos el pasado de Afrodita manipulado y contado a beneficio de otros. La forma en la estaban escritas me hicieron empatizar con su indignación y ansias de justicia.
